Motivation Monday

Behind every great dog is a person who kept going. The handler who practiced one more repetition. The family who stayed consistent. The trainer who celebrated the tiny wins. The person who believed in their dog on the hard days. Service dogs, therapy dogs, emotional support dogs, and family companions are not born knowing how to change lives. They grow through patience, guidance, and partnership. Keep putting in the work. Your future teammate is being built one moment at a time.

Body Language Breakdown

Body Language Breakdown

(Weekly Series) This week we’re focusing on the mouth. A dog’s mouth is one of the most expressive parts of their body and can give subtle but important insight into their emotional state. A soft, slightly open mouth with a relaxed jaw often indicates a calm and comfortable dog. A tightly closed mouth can suggest focus, tension, or uncertainty depending on the situation.

Lip licking, yawning when not tired, or repeated tongue flicks are often subtle stress signals that can show a dog is processing pressure or trying to self soothe. It’s also important to consider context. A dog may pant from heat or exercise, but panting paired with stiff posture or wide eyes can indicate stress rather than relaxation. Next week we’ll continue the series by breaking down another key part of canine communication.

Meet Frankie

Today’s Daily Dog spotlight goes to Frankie!

Frankie is a 3-year-old Bernedoodle currently enrolled in our Therapy Dog Training Program. With her sweet personality, gentle nature, and love for people, Frankie is working hard toward an important future role at Northshore Eye and Wellness. Once her training is complete, Frankie will help provide comfort and support to children during their eye care appointments. Many children feel nervous or uncertain during medical visits, and Frankie will be there to help make the experience more positive, relaxed, and enjoyable.

As part of her training, Frankie is learning to confidently demonstrate common parts of the eye exam process. She practices skills such as wearing glasses, sitting in the exam chair, receiving eye drops, and participating in other routine procedures. By modeling these experiences in a calm and positive way, Frankie can help children feel more comfortable and confident during their own appointments.

Frankie continues to make excellent progress and has already shown a natural ability to connect with the people around her. We are excited to watch her continue developing her skills and making a difference in the lives of the children she will serve. Keep up the great work, Frankie!

Sunday Reset

Sunday Reset

Sundays do not need to be productive to be meaningful. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your dog is slow everything down and simply let them be a dog. A quiet walk without expectations, extra time spent resting in their favorite spot, or a low pressure day with minimal demands can help reset both body and mind before a new week begins. Training progress is built on balance, not constant intensity. Rest days support learning, recovery, and emotional regulation just as much as active training sessions do. Give yourself permission to pause today. The work will still be there tomorrow, and a well rested dog is often a more focused and confident partner.

Meet Finley

Today’s Daily Dog spotlight goes to Finley!

Finley is a 2-year-old Golden Retriever currently participating in our Therapy Dog Training Program. From the moment he started training, Finley has continued to impress us with his eagerness to learn, positive attitude, and natural ability to connect with the people around him.

Finley is an incredibly smart dog and a fast learner who enjoys every opportunity to work with his handler and show off his growing skills. His enthusiasm for training, combined with his friendly and gentle personality, makes him a wonderful therapy dog prospect. One of Finley’s greatest strengths is his ability to bring smiles wherever he goes. Whether he’s meeting new people, practicing his therapy dog skills, or simply offering a wagging tail and a happy face, Finley has a way of brightening the day of everyone he meets.

We are incredibly proud of the progress Finley continues to make and look forward to watching him grow throughout his therapy dog journey. Keep up the great work, Finley!
